When is the best time to book my newborn photos?
The best time to book your session is before the baby arrives. Please contact me while still pregnant to ensure a spot is available. I can be booked up to 3 months in advance.
What is the best age to photograph my newborn?
The best age to photograph a newborn is 5-12 days following birth so I can capture the true essence of your newborn. Babies within that age sleep soundly while being repositioned and enjoy being wrapped in that beautiful newborn curl. Babies older than 2 weeks tend to be more alert and don't fall into that deep sleep as well which makes it very challenging to position.
What if my baby is older than 12 days, can I still book a newborn session?
If your baby was born prematurely we can often stretch that time frame. If your baby was born full-term, is over 12 days old, and you still are interested in a newborn shoot please contact me so we can discuss our options. Babies over the age of 2 weeks are often more alert and wake more easily making the newborn styling more difficult.
What is required when I book a session?
When booking a session I ask for a deposit in advance. At that time I will add you to my schedule approximately 7 days after your due date. Please contact me as soon as your little one arrives so we can make sure the original session date is within the 5-12 day time frame, or reschedule a day that will work.
Where does the session take place?
All newborn sessions take place in my home studio in Visalia, CA. This space has been optimized particularly for newborn sessions, and allows me the best light and warm environment in which to pose these little ones. I provide all of the newborn props you see in my photos- hats, wraps, headbands and other items are available. I will style these throughout your session. Please let me know ahead of time if you have something specific you'd like used.
How should I prepare for my newborn session and what should I bring?
The day prior to your newborn session I will email you specific instructions and directions to my home studio.
How long will the newborn session last?
Depending on which session you choose to book, a typical session lasts anywhere from 1-4 hours. Newborn Mini Sessions last 1-1.5 hours with Full Newborn Sessions lasting on average 3 hours. It all depends on your baby. I work with each individual baby, sleepy or awake.
Can you include my older children in the newborn session?
This also depends on which session you chose. Siblings are not included in the newborn mini-session due to time constraints, but can be arranged during the full newborn sessions. I ask that if you wish to have siblings photographed with your newborn, that you let me know when you schedule your session. These photos are generally done at the end of the session. The day prior to shooting I will setup your session allowing for the best flow of styling, a sibling shot will need be considered while making those arrangements. Please keep in mind that although I will attempt sibling poses, this is not the focus of a newborn session. Please do not set expectations high for young children, as they often have difficulty following direction and are uncomfortable holding their new sibling.
I found some photos on Pinterest that I like, can you replicate it for my newborn?
I like to keep with my own style and I prefer simplicity in my work. I don't use a lot of over-the-top props as I feel that this distracts from your little one. If you have something that means a lot to you that you would like your newborn photographed with, please let me know in advance and we can talk about it.
How soon will my gallery be available?
I aim for a turn around time of 2 weeks. Once I have gone through all your images, you will receive an e-mail from me giving you access to a password protected online gallery. You are free to share this password with family and friends so they may also view your photos. You will favorite your images and email/text me when your ready to order. I will personally edit those photos. I do post a couple of sneak peeks on my Facebook page, as well as here on my blog.
Do you sell the digital negatives?
All of my packages (mini and full sessions) include high-resolution digital files for you to keep forever and are emailed to you via Drop Box with the exception of the Belly and Baby Collection 2 which is all the digital images on a beautiful wooden USB drive.

I highly recommend ordering your prints through the lab I will recommend when you place your order or using a professional printing lab to print your photos as I cannot guarantee the quality of your photos if printed elsewhere.
